About The Position

Under the direction of the Director of Building Services, paint the interior and exterior or structures, buildings and other surfaces. Performs all duties related to painting and patching of damaged walls throughout the facility.

Requirements

Solid knowledge of commercial and/or construction painting techniques
Experience in painting with various tools and in various heights and spaces while observing all safety measures
Demonstrate great attention to detail in completing the jobs
Knowledge of painting material and how to select, mix and apply the right material for the job
Knowledge in painting and spackling techniques
Aptitude in using appropriate tools (brushes, caulking guns, etc.)
Knowledge of hand and power tools
Manual dexterity with excellent balance to work on scaffolding, ladders, etc.
Ability to make independent decisions, follow instructions, and to accept constructive criticism
Ability to plan, organize, develop, implement and interpret the programs, goals, objections, policies and procedures of the department
Must identify specific needs of different age groups of patients and visitors. Be aware of needs of specific groups, and have the ability to communicate and interact with same.

Punctuality/Dependability/Reliability
Communicates effectively (both written and verbal)
Ability to speak, read, and write English
High school or equivalency diploma
1 year painting experience

Responsibilities

Read and understand instructions and examine surfaces to determine the kind and amount of work necessary
Make on-site preparations such as building scaffolding, covering fixtures, etc.
Prepare walls and other surfaces for painting by scraping, using sandpaper, removing old paint, etc.
Fill cracks and holes with appropriate material (e.g. plaster)
Mix paint and other materials to prepare the right color or texture
Paint surfaces according to instructions with various tools
Apply varnish and other finishes
Take and adhere to all health and safety precautions
Maintain the care and use of supplies and equipment, and maintain the appearance of work areas
Record keeping of work completed
Performs other related duties as assigned or when necessary
Performs unrelated assigned duties in times of emergency
