About The Position

Responsible for participating in the safe application of industrial coatings to a variety of new and older mobile oilfield service equipment using standard and/or non-standard tools, equipment, and procedures. Using considerable judgment to ensure quality and/or proper procedures are used. This role involves material preparation, painting, and occasionally abrasive blasting. The Painter will read equipment assembly specifications, bring technical problems to the Lead Hand's attention, participate in shop organization, train new employees, and complete documentation. The position requires the ability to work independently or in a team, familiarize oneself with safe working practices, and adhere to company policies, including health, safety, and environmental requirements.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1-5+ years’ experience or demonstrate competency in related field
  • Experience or demonstrate equivalent knowledge of industrial painting processes in surface preparation, painting (spray, airless, electrostatic, HVLP, brush and roller) along with surface metal fiberglass repair and anticorrosion zinc coating/priming
  • Meet company standard for pulmonary and respiratory functions
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of employees and departments
  • Ability to pass a drug screen, physical exam, respirator fit test, & background check
  • Must be able to read assembly blueprints in English format
  • Ability to solve practical problems and work with limited standardization
  • Working knowledge of shop safety practices
  • Understanding of quality assurance concepts, typically acquired through in-house training
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment
  • Adaptability and willingness to be cross trained
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced manufacturing setting
  • Comfortable working in a factory environment with temperature variations
  • Physically capable of standing, walking, bending, stooping, pushing/pulling, and repetitive movements for up to 8 hours per day
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the safe application of industrial coatings to a variety of new and older mobile oilfield service equipment using standard and/or non-standard tools, equipment, and procedures.
  • Perform material preparation, including masking, blowing, sanding, and preparing components.
  • Select and mix paints, and operate painting equipment including pumps and guns.
  • Occasionally operate abrasive blasting equipment to prepare components for paint.
  • Read equipment assembly specifications, such as charts, schematics, blueprints, and typed instructions and details.
  • Bring technical problems encountered to the Lead Hand’s attention for resolution throughout the project.
  • Participate in regular shop/yard organization and cleanliness exercises.
  • Train new employees in painting/preparation operations as required.
  • Complete and maintain various records and documentation.
  • Demonstrate the capability to work independently or in a team on complex and multiple projects requiring judgment to resolve problems.
  • Familiarize yourself with operation controls such as safe working practices and job hazard analysis as appropriate to specific work tasks.
  • Follow all applicable company and corporate policies, guiding principles, procedures and programs; including but not limited to the process map, support processes, health, safety and environmental requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
