About The Position

The Painter is responsible for assigned duties in masonry, carpentry, electrical work, and painting; performing efficiency tests; maintaining grounds and buildings; completing preventative maintenance; and participating in Agency activities. The role includes preparing surfaces, selecting and applying finishes, and using protective coverings and safety equipment. Upstate Caring Partners provides direct-care services and programs in Central New York for individuals of all abilities and their families.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Experience in the field.
• Valid New York State driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Assemble scaffolding as required.
• Cover trim, floors, furniture, and other surfaces with masking tape, drop cloths, and other protective coverings to keep them free of paint.
• Set up ventilators and other safety equipment to protect painters from unhealthy fumes.
• Prepare surfaces for painting by washing them, filling holes and cracks with putty, and sanding them until smooth.
• Apply primer and other sealers to paint surfaces to ensure paint adheres.
• Mix and match paint, stain, and other finishes to job specifications.
• Apply paint, stain, and other finishes using paintbrushes, rollers, or sprayers.
• Perform assigned masonry, carpentry, and electrical duties; efficiency tests; general grounds and building maintenance; and preventative maintenance.
• Participate in Agency activities.
