About The Position

The Wet Paint Team Member is responsible for performing industrial wet paint application, surface preparation, and finishing operations on Skid Steer Loader (SSL) machines and components at JCB North America. This role ensures all painted products meet strict quality, durability, and appearance standards while supporting production efficiency in a high-volume, heavy-duty manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong experience in industrial or automotive paint processes, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to maintain consistent finish quality under production demands.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 1–2 years of experience in industrial, automotive, or manufacturing painting
  • Experience operating material handling equipment (forklift, crane, or manipulators)
  • Ability to pass all pre-employment requirements (drug screen, background check, etc.)

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years of experience in heavy manufacturing, industrial coating, or automotive paint environments
  • Experience with heavy equipment or large-scale components
  • Forklift certification (or ability to obtain)
  • Knowledge of coating systems, paint mixing, and surface preparation techniques

Responsibilities

  • Perform complete surface preparation, including cleaning, sanding, masking, and staging of parts prior to paint application
  • Apply industrial wet coatings using spray equipment to ensure proper film thickness, adhesion, and finish quality
  • Execute paint touch-up and rework to correct defects and ensure product consistency
  • Mix and handle coatings in accordance with manufacturer specifications and safety guidelines
  • Load and unload parts and assemblies using manipulators, conveyors, and forklifts
  • Maintain continuous workflow within the paint line to meet production targets and takt time requirements
  • Coordinate with upstream and downstream operations to minimize delays and downtime
  • Operate and maintain paint spray systems, pressure pots, and related equipment
  • Perform routine maintenance including cleaning, flushing, and calibrating spray equipment
  • Ensure proper setup of equipment to maintain optimal paint application performance
  • Visually inspect painted components to ensure compliance with quality, thickness, and finish standards
  • Identify and correct common paint defects such as: Runs, sags, orange peel, Contamination or missed coverage
  • Work closely with Quality and Production teams to reduce defects and improve first-pass yield
  • Apply lean manufacturing and continuous improvement (CI) principles to enhance paint processes
  • Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) to eliminate recurring defects
  • Recommend improvements to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and improve coating performance
  • Follow all health, safety, and environmental regulations, including proper handling of paints and chemicals
  • Comply with OSHA and hazardous material handling standards
  • Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times, including: Respirators, Protective clothing, Safety glasses and gloves
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with 5S standards
  • Perform demasking, finishing, and post-paint handling of components
  • Support other production areas as needed to meet manufacturing goals and deadlines
  • Complete all required production and quality documentation accurately
