About The Position

Amentum, a global leader in critical mission support, engineering, technology, and national security solutions, is seeking an Industrial Painter to support a government contract based in Kings Bay, Georgia. The work will include knowledge of surface peculiarities and types of paint required for different indoor and outdoor applications. As directed, the painter will clean, preserve, and prepare a multitude of surfaces for painting, including metal, wood, gypsum, stucco, aluminum, galvanized, and fiberglass surfaces. The job will involve preparing surfaces on all types of equipment, cranes, buildings, structures, offices, and machinery using various hand tools such as sandblasting equipment, chippers, sanders, grinders, putty knives, and drills. The painter will also apply surfaces using a brush, roller, spray gun, and other equipment to achieve desirable results in color, coating, film thickness, coverage, and protection. The role requires the ability to position and operate sandblasting equipment, including compressors, receivers, water separators, filters, sandblasting pots, hoses, and blast hoses. The painter may mix colors, oils, and thinners to obtain the proper color or consistency. Generally, the work of an industrial painter requires rounded training and experience usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience. The role also includes performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent.
  • Three (3) years journeyman experience in the painting field within the last eight years.
  • Must demonstrate proficiency in the use of spray painting and sandblasting equipment, to include all tools common to corrosion control.
  • Must demonstrate proficiency in patch and painting techniques for interior painting.
  • Must have thorough knowledge of paints, thinner, and lacquers and have good color perception.
  • Must be able to read and comprehend mix ratios and minimum surface preparation as required by paint manufacturers.
  • Must be able to work with protective coatings to include but not limited to thinners, lacquers, epoxies, cleaners, inorganic zinc coatings, polyamide epoxy coatings, aliphatic polyurethanes, and epoxy mastic coatings.
  • Must be able to work at various heights up to 150 feet, including work from mechanical lifting devices.
  • Must possess a valid state driver's license.
  • Must have and wear hard-toed safety shoes which meet ASTM F2413-0S standards.
  • Must agree to be able to wear a close-fitting respirator (requires the absence of facial hair that would interfere with the respirator seal).
  • Successful candidate will be subject to a government security investigation and must continually meet eligibility requirements for access to all areas of Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay.

  • Mixes colors, oils, and thinners to obtain proper color or consistency.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
