About The Position

Lindberg/MPH, a leading manufacturer of industrial heat treat furnaces and melting furnaces, is seeking talented individuals to join their growing team. With over 100 years of history in the heat treating/non-ferrous melting industry, Lindberg/MPH serves a wide range of industries including aerospace/military, automotive, commercial heat treating, energy/oil, electronics, and forging markets. This role is based in Riverside, Michigan.

Requirements

  • One to two years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Able to accurately measure with a tape measure and square to 1/32" and convert decimals to fractions.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to distinguish stainless steel, carbon steel, and aluminum.
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
  • Must be willing to work overtime on an as-needed basis to maintain production deadlines.
  • Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
  • Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.
  • Moderate noise level in the work environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Fabrication expertise, including operating machines such as a shear, press brake, plate & angle rolls and plasma cutter.
  • Ability to prepare steel components, assemble and weld pieces with all welding techniques (including gas, MIG, TIG and stick).

Responsibilities

  • Prepares items for painting by inspecting for proper welds, removing weld spatter, over-poured refractory, excess weld, sharp edges, and burrs using various tools.
  • Cleans and prepares surfaces to be painted by wiping down with paint thinner to remove grease, oil, and dirt.
  • Masks off areas not requiring paint.
  • Applies primer coat and checks for drips, runs, and gouges after drying, tacking or buffing out primer runs if possible.
  • Mixes paint with thinner according to specification sheets and required handling time.
  • Paints product according to paint specifications, tacking out drips and runs.
  • Installs data plates, warning labels, and other applicable signs after product re-assembly.
  • Checks product for any necessary painting touch-up after item is re-assembled.
  • Cleans painting equipment and paint booth.
  • Inventories, requisitions, and rotates paint stock.
  • Reads blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and job orders to interpret specifications and determine work procedures.
  • Follows diagrams, blueprints, and schematics, ensuring proper components are created and assembled correctly.
  • Works alone or as a member of an assembly group, assembling various pieces and working at different workstations as production needs require, or shifts from one station to another; able to work in all phases of furnace production.
  • Utilizes fabrication expertise, including operating machines such as a shear, press brake, plate & angle rolls, and plasma cutter.
  • Prepares steel components, assembles, and welds pieces using all welding techniques (including gas, MIG, TIG, and stick).
  • Plans the flow of materials through the department and develops the physical layout of machines according to work orders and interfaces with others in the organization.
  • Inspects and measures parts and products to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Develops, recommends, and implements measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and product quality.
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems when requested.
