Delta Star Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented and safety-focused Painter I to support industrial painting, coating, and surface preparation activities within our manufacturing operation. This role provides the opportunity to learn industrial painting processes, equipment operation, and coating application techniques while contributing to the production of high-quality transformer components. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to learn industrial painting methods, coating systems, and application techniques.
  • Ability to safely operate spray equipment, pressure pots, and cleaning equipment.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to learn paint mixing and coating application procedures.
  • Ability to use basic hand and power tools.
  • Ability to work safely around paints, solvents, and industrial coatings.
  • Commitment to proper PPE use and safety compliance.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Strong housekeeping and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Level I painting and surface preparation activities with guidance and assistance.
  • Assist in applying industrial coatings and paints to components and assemblies.
  • Operate equipment used to control temperature, flow, and composition of coating materials.
  • Turn equipment on and off and perform basic cleaning and maintenance tasks.
  • Prime tanks and support paint line operations.
  • Load and unload the paint line as required.
  • Dip articles in coating solutions according to established procedures.
  • Assist with operation of the thinner recovery system.
  • Operate an overhead crane under supervision.
  • Prepare surfaces through sanding, chipping, tapping, masking, cleaning, and related activities.
  • Use spray guns and pressure pots with guidance.
  • Mix and prepare paint materials according to specifications.
  • Fill pressure pots with appropriate coating materials for assigned work.
  • Remove excess coating and ensure proper finish appearance.
  • Add coating materials according to specifications and test results under supervision.
  • Complete DIRs and production documentation accurately and on time.
  • Report unusual, unsafe, or defective conditions to leadership.
  • Operate high-pressure cleaning equipment to remove grease, oil, and contaminants.
  • Assist with maintenance and upkeep of painting equipment and PPE.
  • Clean paint guns daily and perform routine maintenance.
  • Change filters and clean paint booths according to established schedules.
  • Support the training of lower-level employees as directed.
  • Maintain dependable attendance and performance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
