Requirements

  • Associate degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school
  • Two to 5 years of experience with powder coat painting process.
  • Ability to interrupt blueprints of a technical nature
  • Ability to interrupt BOM’s
  • Leadership capabilities
  • Be a problem solver.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all spray paintings are on task in performing and recording process checks.
  • Fill in on either the steel line or the aluminum line in cases of emergencies or absence.
  • Make required checks including oven temperatures, chemical composition of cleaning stations, color matches, mil thickness tests and scratch tests.
  • Verify first piece run conformance has been performed properly.
  • Know and follow PSS instructions and be familiar with hazards of chemicals being used in cleaning solutions, and of proper PPE.
  • Train others on how to hang parts correctly, mask parts correctly, set and adjust spray guns and paint correctly and fills in as a painter on either line (Steel, Aluminum) in cases of illness or emergency.
  • Set ovens, proper cleaning solution composition and conduct various quality checks.
  • Fill out move tickets correctly; perform audits to guarantee consistency and order paint and paint supplies.
  • Periodically check inventory to ensure proper quantities are on hand.
  • Report quality issues, personnel difficulties, or any abnormalities to Lead Painter or management.
  • Set-up and maintain Kanban boards to meet the start, due and delivery dates.
  • Study production schedules and estimate the hours required to complete job assignments.
  • Review Kanban cards or other schedules to establish priorities based upon start, due or ship dates.
  • Use equipment and resources to increase efficiency and productivity of shop, department, or work crew.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, BOM’s, Routers and other technical documents.
  • Perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.
