About The Position

An Industrial Journeyman Painter/Blaster paints equipment and structures for protective and cosmetic purposes. The role requires maintaining and mixing paint and other coating materials, and having thorough knowledge of those materials to ensure equipment and structures are painted and protected according to contract requirements or specifications. The position requires experience with spray painting, operating sandblasting equipment, and applying fireproofing.

Requirements

• At least 4 years of experience working as a Painter or Painter Helper on an industrial construction project.
• Ability to read blueprints, plans, and drawings proficiently.
• Knowledge of materials, tools, and processes involved in basic painting techniques, including knowledge of paint qualities.
• Ability to identify the relationship between materials to be painted and the required technique, mixture, and number of coatings.
• Experience spray painting, operating sandblasting equipment, and applying fireproofing.
• Ability to read blueprints, sketches, or building plans.
• Ability to meet all physical requirements.
• Willingness to follow safety rules and regulations and company and site rules.
• Required tools.
• Reliable transportation.
• Ability to work the full work schedule and additional overtime as needed.
• Willingness to assist other crafts when not actively working on a painting project.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints and specifications to determine the scope of work, including locations and quantities and sizes of required materials.
• Identify the tools required for tasks.
• Identify safety risks and the precautions needed to eliminate them.
• Measure, mark, and cut wooden or metallic materials to required specifications.
• Identify and mix paint and coatings as required, and sandblast structures.
• Use the proper techniques, including stroke types, for the paint or coating and the item being painted or coated.
• Work safely at heights and from ladders and scaffolds.
• Perform housekeeping and clean work areas.
• Assist other crafts when not actively working on a painting project.
