About The Position

The Painter, Automotive coats surfaces of motor vehicles such as automobiles, buses, and trucks with paint, lacquer, epoxy, resin or other material; using brushes, rollers, spray guns, and other devices; removes old paint from vehicles using liquid paint remover and scraper; smooths surfaces with sandpaper and steel wool. The Painter, Automotive worker roughens aluminum surfaces with acid solution and steel wool to ensure that paint adheres to surfaces, masks and covers portions of surfaces not to be painted, paints vehicle or specified portion of vehicle and may paint insignia, letters, or numerals on vehicle surface using stencils.

Requirements

  • Formal documented training and a minimum of five years of documented Painter, Automotive experience.
  • Ability to lift on an occasional basis a maximum of 70 pounds with frequent or constant lifting of 40 pounds.
  • Ability to climb in and out of military vehicles and related equipment.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to work in cramped areas for long periods of time.
  • Ability to work in all types of weather conditions to include intense heat, heavy wind, heavy rain, and snow or sleet.
  • Valid state driver's license.
  • Ability to attain licenses on military vehicles, tactical and non-tactical.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to pass a back-ground check and attain a security clearance if required.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Safety and OSHA Law & Regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Coat surfaces of motor vehicles with paint, lacquer, epoxy, resin or other material using brushes, rollers, spray guns, and other devices.
  • Remove old paint from vehicles using liquid paint remover and scraper.
  • Smooth surfaces with sandpaper and steel wool.
  • Roughen aluminum surfaces with acid solution and steel wool to ensure paint adheres.
  • Mask and cover portions of surfaces not to be painted.
