About The Position

As a Paint Technician at AutoNation, you will paint vehicle body parts to quality standards. You will prepare work surfaces, assess and analyze damaged areas, prepare and match paint colors, and inspect finished work for quality. You will use collision-center equipment safely, follow manufacturer specifications and applicable regulations, and deliver high-quality repairs. The role offers paid training, OEM certification support, and potential career growth into positions such as Collision Production Manager, Collision Estimator, or Paint Team Lead.

Requirements

• At least two years of automotive experience.
• Valid in-state driver’s license with an acceptable, safe driving record.
• Ability to operate an automobile.

Nice To Haves

• ICAR certification, or interest in becoming certified.
• OEM certification, or interest in becoming certified.

Responsibilities

• Assess and analyze damaged areas and prepare them for painting, including removing rust and grease and masking parts that should not be painted or coated.
• Prepare color tint to match or blend the vehicle’s paint color.
• Paint vehicles efficiently and to a high quality using a sprayer or brush as appropriate.
• Follow factory and dealership procedures when performing warranty work.
• Operate Collision Center equipment safely and productively, following AutoNation safety standards and using required personal protective equipment.
• Inspect craftsmanship for runs, sags, and unpainted areas.
• Mix paint and chemicals according to manufacturer directions and specifications.
• Follow federal, state, and local regulations affecting Collision Center operations, including hazardous-waste disposal and OSHA guidelines.
• Develop superior product knowledge to provide high-quality repairs.
