About The Position

Support the Company mission, vision, and values while directly supervising paint personnel and manage all functions affecting shop safety, quality, production, budget and schedule related to industrial painting operations. Documents the build process in a diversified shop area by performing the following duties:

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 5+ years' experience in an Industrial painting environment
  • At least 2 years in management
  • Strong technical background
  • Demonstrated skills in implementing Continuous Improvement initiatives and other quality and process improvement tools

Nice To Haves

  • NACE Certification preferred
  • Associates degree preferred

Responsibilities

  • Direct overall production activities to improve operational performance and successfully introduce new projects.
  • Provide leadership that promotes world-class manufacturing practices, employee engagement, continuous improvement, and Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Manage day-to-day departmental operations to ensure production objectives are achieved.
  • Interface with Production and Safety leadership to resolve operational issues, improve processes, and support business growth initiatives.
  • Participate in and oversee program strategy for new and emerging contracts.
  • Manage current customer requirements and support new customer qualification initiatives.
  • Implement strategies focused on cost reduction, process improvement, productivity enhancement, and on-time delivery.
  • Establish, monitor, and report key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate manufacturing performance.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize operational efficiency, quality, and cost effectiveness.
  • Manage departmental budgets and resource allocation to meet operational goals.
  • Develop and maintain preventive maintenance programs for equipment and facilities.
  • Ensure equipment readiness and operational reliability to support production requirements.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities and report equipment deficiencies requiring repair or replacement.
  • Oversee the preparation, setup, testing, and operation of paint spraying equipment.
  • Ensure coating materials are prepared and mixed in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
  • Verify dry and wet film thickness measurements meet job and customer specifications.
  • Ensure proper cleaning, storage, and maintenance of painting equipment.
  • Ensure surfaces are properly prepared and meet coating readiness requirements.
  • Oversee housekeeping practices to maintain clean and organized work areas.
  • Manage customer requirements and ensure compliance with contract specifications.
  • Support customer qualification processes and maintain strong customer relationships.
  • Collaborate with customers and internal stakeholders to resolve quality, schedule, and technical concerns.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations.
  • Maintain required permits, certifications, inspections, and regulatory documentation.
  • Coordinate with the Safety Manager during government agency inspections and audits.
  • Promote a safe work environment and ensure adherence to company safety policies and procedures.
  • Address environmental, safety, and ergonomic concerns proactively.
  • Perform other duties as assigned that are consistent with the nature and level of the position.
