The Paint Room Operator is responsible for independently operating machines and equipment to produce production parts to required tolerances. This role involves reading and comprehending customer specification sheets, anticipating the next order, and staging supplies/products accordingly. The operator will utilize Company systems for reporting production, scrap, and inventory, and will follow all directions and product quantity requirements. A key part of the role is mixing paint and applying it to specifications, including scheduling requirements for steel drums and ensuring the exterior of drums has a quality appearance. The operator must verify paint viscosity, flush lines between colors, and ensure all pumps and agitators are in good working order. Setup, adjustment, and cleaning of paint tips in the paint booth, as well as maintaining paint heaters/guns and related equipment, are essential. The operator will also be responsible for keeping the paint booth and chains clean, changing back wall filters daily, and following Maintenance PMs. Organizing trial runs of new paint for customer sample runs and troubleshooting mechanical issues with the team are also part of the duties. Additionally, the operator must maintain a clean and safe working area, perform minor maintenance and preventative maintenance, track downtime and equipment issues, organize and dispose of empties, assist with paint and solvent inventory, and fill in for the Paint Stager as needed. Attendance at required meetings and trainings is mandatory.
