About The Position

The Paint Prepper performs refinish work according to specifications, matches paint colors, and communicates each vehicle’s stage in the paint process. The role includes monitoring painting operations for flaws and correcting their causes, mixing and verifying paints, and following OEM standards for blending formulas, topcoat application, and curing. The position may also involve applying designs and identifying details to finished products and laying out logos or patterns according to blueprint specifications.

Requirements

Certifications in paint procedures.
I-CAR certifications.
Prior refinish experience.
Ability to receive and give direction.
Reliable work history.
Must be able to pass a thorough background check.

Responsibilities

Perform all refinish work according to specifications.
Match paint colors using specified color charts.
Communicate vehicles’ stages in the paint process.
Monitor painting operations for flaws such as blisters or streaks and correct their causes.
Mix, stir, and thin paints to match color specifications or vehicles’ original colors, using spatulas or power mixing equipment.
Follow OEM standards for blending formulas, topcoat application, and curing.
Apply designs, lettering, or other identifying decorative items to finished products using paint brushes or paint sprayers.
Verify paint consistency.
Lay out logos, symbols, or designs on painted surfaces according to blueprint specifications, using measuring instruments, stencils, or patterns.
