Paint Prepper
About The Position
The Auto Body Refinish Prepper prepares vehicles for quality refinish repairs, restoring them to pre-accident condition. The role involves sanding, masking, priming, and otherwise preparing each vehicle for refinishing in accordance with insurance guidelines and collision repair facility standards. Compensation is flat rate and performance-based, tied to turned or booked hours. If compensation for a pay period is below the applicable minimum wage, clocked hours are calculated with a guarantee of the applicable local or state minimum wage, whichever is greater. Compensation is commensurate with skill, education, and experience.
Responsibilities
- Prepare vehicle surfaces, mask vehicles, and apply primer and top coatings.
- Apply primers, sealers, basecoats, color coats, and clear coats.
- Restore anti-corrosion treatments; identify substrates; and mix and apply products.
- Evaluate bodywork to help ensure a quality paint job.
- Sand, mask, prime, and prepare vehicles for refinishing according to insurance guidelines and facility standards.
