About The Position
Gerber Collision & Glass is seeking an Auto Body Refinish Prepper to prepare customer vehicles for quality refinishing and help restore them to pre-accident condition. The role thoroughly sands, masks, primes, and prepares vehicles for refinishing in accordance with insurance guidelines and collision repair facility standards. The work includes surface preparation, vehicle masking, priming, and top coating; applying primers, sealers, basecoats, color coats, and clear coats; restoring anti-corrosion treatments; identifying substrates; and mixing and applying products. The prepper evaluates completed bodywork to help ensure a quality paint job. Compensation is flat rate, performance-based on turned or booked hours, with a guarantee of applicable local or state minimum wage when compensation for a pay period falls below minimum wage.
Responsibilities
- Prepare vehicle surfaces, including sanding, masking, and priming, for refinishing.
- Apply primers, sealers, basecoats, color coats, and clear coats.
- Complete restoration of anti-corrosion treatments.
- Identify substrates and mix and apply products.
- Evaluate bodywork to ensure it is ready to produce a quality paint job.
- Prepare vehicles for refinishing according to insurance guidelines and collision repair facility standards.
