Paint Prepper
About The Position
The Paint Prepper prepares vehicle surfaces for paint application and supports the paint team through the pre-paint process. The role includes cleaning and treating surfaces, filling and smoothing small imperfections, assisting with blending needs, and helping keep vehicles on schedule for delivery. The Paint Prepper also buffs and waxes completed paintwork and cleans and reassembles paint sprayers and power equipment. Compensation is paid on a commission/flag-rate structure, with flag pay guaranteed to meet local minimum wage requirements for all hours worked each week.
Requirements
- Prior experience in the vehicle paint process.
- Ability to receive directions and work well with others.
- Must be able to pass a thorough background check.
Nice To Haves
- I-CAR certifications preferred.
Responsibilities
- Remove grease, dirt, paint, or rust from vehicle surfaces in preparation for paint application using abrasives, solvents, brushes, blowtorches, washing tanks, or sandblasters.
- Assist the painter with pre-paint blending needs.
- Work with the paint team to help keep vehicles on track for scheduled delivery.
- Fill small dents or scratches with body fillers and smooth surfaces in preparation for painting.
- Buff and wax finished paintwork.
- Disassemble, clean, and reassemble sprayers and power equipment using solvents, wire brushes, and cloths.
