Eaton’s Electrical Sector is currently seeking Paint Line Lead to join our team. This position is based at our Airdrie, Alberta. Position Overview: Reporting to the Production Manager, this position is responsible for manually and automatically painting produced parts using the powder coating paint system. In addition, this position is responsible to provide a daily leadership role for the Paint Line team to meet business needs by ensuring continuity of the line, meeting quality requirements and productivity metrics, TPM , cost out and 5S goals.

Requirements

  • Manual and automated operation and maintenance of the powder coat paint system.
  • Perform regular physic – chemical tests (adhesion, coating thickness, concentration, pH, conductivity).
  • Hand hazardous materials interpreting and maintaining storage’s guidelines.
  • Be able to work in environment where tight fitting respiratory protective equipment is required.
  • Be able to wear all the PPE required for working in a paint line.
  • Ability to enter a confined space and follow confined space entry requirements.
  • Leadership skills for leading and mentoring the Paint team are required.
  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in Paint lines in manufacturing environments.
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada without company sponsorship.
  • Must reside within 80km of Airdrie to be considered for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to ISO9001:2008/EQS quality procedures and work instructions.
  • Lead, train and mentor the team of painters and support stuff.
  • Paint all parts required for production, including parts being supplied to other Eaton facilities and parts to be reworked because of defects & damages.
  • Assign daily tasks to the paint line team, according to the production schedule and activities are part of the area (departmental meetings, quality meetings, 5S activities, etc.).
  • Mark orders as started or completed on DMM.
  • Carry out inventories of chemicals, spare parts and general supplies used in the Paint line area. It is part of the responsibility to communicate request and needs to the manager and place orders when apply (Ariba system).
  • Record quality checks result and maintain documentation required by the manager.
  • Use the “visual board” to track orders and information related to SDS and FIFI’s.
  • Perform daily chemical testing, environmental tank cleaning and chemical handling, as required.
  • Operate the burn-off oven system when, as required.
  • Perform standard maintenance and ongoing equipment quality inspections. Notify the Maintenance Department when any issues arise or condition require a second look to minimize down time.
  • The lead hand is responsible for ensuring the quality of finished parts are according to the Quality criteria. This includes the corresponding identification and palletizing requirements.
  • Keep the area well organized as specified to manage parts that require rework.
  • Maintain a positive commitment to the prevention of pollution and protection of the environment, taking into consideration the guidelines delivered by EHS related to Chemicals (storage, example: apply waste labels and ensure waste goes in the appropriate spot).
  • Ensure chemicals are stored in their designated spot.
  • Ensure chemicals are handled according to the Safe Work procedure.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance paint quality.
