About The Position

As a Sr. Reconditioning Associate II, you will help ensure every vehicle meets CarMax’s paint and cosmetic standards before reaching customers. The role involves advanced paint application, minor repairs, sanding, grinding, and paint preparation. You will also support related reconditioning duties as needed, contributing to a team focused on precision, quality, and efficiency.

Requirements

• Complete CarMax New Associate Orientation Training – Operations.
• Meet performance standards and workstation certifications for all related roles.
• Read, interpret, and record data accurately, and perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.
• Demonstrate color discernment and proficiency in paint application techniques.
• Be physically able to lift up to 50 lbs and work indoors or outdoors in varying conditions.
• Have strong communication skills to interact effectively with customers and team members.
• Use CarMax-provided respiratory protection; be clean-shaven to use a half-face respirator.

Responsibilities

• Perform complete paint applications, including color matching and mixing, to achieve a quality finish.
• Execute minor repairs, including sanding and grinding, to restore vehicle surfaces.
• Maintain paint preparation standards so vehicles meet CarMax quality guidelines.
• Collaborate with the team on problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Follow standardized work processes and comply with CarMax Paint Standards.
• Keep equipment and tools in optimal condition to support safety and efficiency.
• Follow CarMax Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) requirements and maintain a clean, orderly work area.
• Perform related reconditioning duties as needed.

Benefits

• Paid sick time: up to 48 hours per year, accrued each pay period, for eligible full-time hourly or commission/incentive associates.
• Paid vacation: 80 to 200 hours per year after a 90-day waiting period, depending on years of continuous service, for eligible full-time hourly or commission/incentive associates.
• Paid holidays: 8 hours of pay for each of six scheduled holidays per year, plus one floating holiday, for eligible full-time hourly or commission/incentive associates.
• Holiday premium pay when eligible associates work on a scheduled holiday due to business need.
• Full-time salaried associates receive paid time away as needed for sick time, vacation, bereavement, jury duty, holidays, and floating holidays, subject to manager approval.
