Auto Body Paint Prepper
About The Position
International Auto Body & Paint is a family-owned business seeking a paint prepper to help prepare vehicles for painting and support the shop team. Duties include moving cars to appropriate work stalls, setting up new and repaired parts on work stands, preparing panels for paint, assessing refinished panels, polishing freshly painted parts as needed, and detailing reassembled vehicles to remove dust, compound, and dirt and showcase the completed work. The role involves using powered and non-powered tools, including scuffing pads, hand sanders, and DA sanders, and following the shop’s standard operating procedures for cleaning panels.
Requirements
- Must be physically able to perform the duties required for the position.
- Ability to use powered and non-powered tools safely and efficiently.
- Valid California driver’s license.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
Responsibilities
- Move cars as needed to appropriate work stalls.
- Set up new and repaired parts on work stands.
- Assist the painter in preparing panels for paint using scuffing pads, hand sanding, and DA sanders.
- Clean panels according to the shop’s standard operating procedures.
- Assess the finish of panels after refinishing and polish freshly painted parts as needed.
- Detail vehicles after reassembly to remove dust, compound, and dirt.
