The PACU Technician performs advanced patient care tasks as delegated by the RN. This includes tasks such as inserting and removing IV lines, phlebotomy, monitoring patients' cardiac and vital signs, performing bladder scans, blood glucose checks, and EKG's. The technician is responsible for measuring and documenting vital signs, promptly communicating patient observations and needs to the RN, collecting specimens, and maintaining nursing supplies and equipment. They also ensure a clean and safe work environment, assist with patient positioning and transport, and prepare patient rooms for admissions and discharges. A key aspect of this role is demonstrating knowledge of age-specific care needs for all patients served.
