The PACU Registered Nurse, under the supervision of the PeriAnesthesia Director, is responsible for providing peri-operative patient care in accordance with nursing judgment, regulatory and accreditation standards, and the facility's mission, vision, and values. This role involves direct and indirect patient care across the age continuum, utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Administrative responsibilities include physician marketing, cost awareness, and adherence to staffing schedules. The position supervises other Registered Nurses and directs ancillary staff in Pre-Operative and Post-Operative areas. The role also assists with administrative tasks related to Risk Management, Employee Health, Infection Control, Performance Improvement, and Clinical Recruitment/Retention. In collaboration with nursing leadership, the PeriAnesthesia Registered Nurse may assist in developing and implementing policies and procedures to ensure cost-effective, safe, and high-quality care. The position requires projecting a professional demeanor, maintaining confidentiality, adhering to HIPAA, and reporting any suspected violations of laws, rules, regulations, or the SP Code of Conduct. Annual continuing education requirements must be fulfilled. Personal attributes include being self-directed, accountable, professional, receptive to change, and seeking guidance when needed. The role requires working under stress, demonstrating patience, stamina, endurance, and tact while providing excellent service.
