About The Position

At Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center, the Registered Nurse (RN) in the Ambulatory Surgery Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) provides post-operative care for patients recovering from surgical procedures performed in the Ambulatory Operating Room and Main Operating Room. The role involves providing high-acuity care for patients recovering from outpatient surgical procedures, managing Phase 1 and 2 recovery, ensuring safe emergence from anesthesia, stabilization, and readiness for discharge or transfer. The RN will collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and care teams to deliver advanced interventions and uphold perioperative standards.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program with an Associate’s degree in Nursing is required.
  • Valid RN license in Connecticut.
  • BLS/CPR certification (AHA or ARC)
  • ACLS and TNCC certification (support available post-hire)
  • Proficiency in ASPAN standards and guidelines

Nice To Haves

  • One or more years of PACU experience supporting inpatient surgical recovery.
  • ICU nurses with 2 or more years of experience may be considered if they demonstrate expertise in ICU-level ventilated patient care, critical drips (e.g., vasopressors, sedatives), and strong assessment skills.
