The Packaging Operator I is responsible for packaging of flavors (powders, spray dry, liquids, emulsions and extracts) per directions on each batch ticket. This role is to work closely with the Batch Compounders to package batches with food safety, quality, efficiency and accuracy priorities. This role fills production orders from production equipment such as mixers, spray dryers and blending tanks. Must accurately fill the required packaging type, read and apply labels and follow safety procedures. The role is responsible for packaging the correct finished product quantity with the correct label requirements.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent work experience.
  • Consume required materials using RF scanner and accurately report batch quantities.
  • Must have attention to detail and can perform basic mathematics.
  • Ability to manually lift 50 lbs. continuously when necessary
  • Must follow safety requirements, forklift policy and wear required PPE.
  • Ability to problem solve and communicate when something is wrong and to recognize and report the problem.
  • Ability to work overtime when necessary.
  • Ability to learn and consistently follow operational and cleaning procedures.
  • Ability to learn and consistently complete required documentation and record-keeping requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Packaging Operator 1 + Minimum 18 months of successful experience as a Packaging Operator, full-time Synergy Employee.
  • Basic AX skills to complete your job effectively
  • Proficient working all production rooms/zones and all batch volume levels (i.e. cross trained).
  • Must follow proper inventory procedures during the picking process
  • Understand and demonstrate consistent cleaning procedures and proper documentation
  • Active member in a plant improvement team focusing on safety, quality, productivity, morale
  • Demonstrated the willingness and ability to train new employees
  • Ability to safely operate powered equipment including forklifts, hand jacks, drum tipper
  • No disciplinary action regarding safety, quality, performance, attendance or behavioral issues.
  • Incidents that occurred more than one year ago may be waived upon supervisor recommendation

Responsibilities

  • Pack production batches and monitor equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Record production and other data accurately on specified forms and documents
  • Follow sanitary guidelines for CIP and cleaning
  • Transfer materials, set up equipment, supplies and packaging materials efficiently.
  • Learn and understand food safety concepts and their importance in making our products.
  • Promptly observe and clearly communicate food or other product quality matters to Shift Leads or Management.
  • Consistently perform assigned duties in a safe manner and in accordance with the company’s safety policies.
  • Consistently perform and complete assigned duties without errors or other defects.
  • Transfer materials, supplies and products between work areas using equipment and sit down fork lifts.
  • Must be able to observe and clearly and promptly communicate food or other product quality matters to Shift Leads or Management.
