About The Position

This role is responsible for safely packing a quality and productive product. The position involves following and supporting all Company safety, GMP, and ISO policies, maintaining a safe work environment, and performing required quality checks to ensure the quality of the product. The Packer II will also be responsible for ensuring the correct boxes and labels are used, the correct amount of product is placed in the boxes, and reporting any substandard quality product to the Section Lead. Maintaining good housekeeping is also a key responsibility. The role requires reading "Traveler" – Bill of Materials (BOM), checking special instructions, and passing electric pallet jack certification. The position involves working on various lines including LD 98 & 9, AG Line & Fume Line, and in the Packing area on lines LD 3, 4 & 12, and lines HD 12 & 21. Specific tasks include setting up tapers and changing tape rolls, setting up and troubleshooting box erectors, setting up label applicators, safe operation of bin lifts, safe handling of bin gates, and knowing pallet stacking formations for all orders. For In Line Packers, responsibilities include safely pulling plastic, picking up scrap, helping string downstream equipment, and safe handling of hand tapers and replacing tape rolls. Manual box making and operating winders are also part of the role, as is using a J-Knife safely to cut and tuck product.

Requirements

  • Ability to use and read a ruler.
  • Ability to read and understand a traveler.
  • Ability to document quality and weight on bag check sheets.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, procedure manuals and checklists.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral and diagram or schedule form.
  • Basic PC knowledge.
  • Must pass electric pallet jack certification.

Nice To Haves

  • High School diploma or GED, preferred.
  • Experience in a team-work oriented environment a plus.
  • Working knowledge of extrusion/converting equipment and process desired.
