About The Position

The Packer is responsible for packaging frozen products manually by placing finished cases on conveyors or rollers through various stages of processing. This role involves obtaining, sorting, and counting products according to specifications, working on different lines as tasks vary, weighing products and reporting inconsistencies to supervision, properly labeling boxes, packing special arrangements, inspecting products for open seams or inconsistencies, recording information such as weight, time, and date packaged, and palletizing finished products. The Packer also records the number of cases stacked per pallet into the computer, fabricates and assembles boxes using a sealing machine, inserts plastic liners in boxes, and transports boxes through different packaging stages. Additionally, the role requires rotation with other workers, ensuring product conformance to quality standards, working as a team, contributing to continuous improvement, attending company meetings, informing supervision of problems, and participating in special projects.

Requirements

  • High school education, GED; or up to one-year related experience

Responsibilities

  • Obtains, sorts and counts product according to job specifications.
  • Works on different lines as tasks vary according to job requirements or specifications.
  • Weighs product and reports any inconsistencies to lead packer or Packing supervisor.
  • Properly labels boxes according to product specifications.
  • Packs special arrangements or selections of products.
  • Inspects product for open seams or inconsistency in product.
  • Records information such as weight, time, and date packaged.
  • Palletize finished product.
  • Records the number of cases stacked per pallet into the computer.
  • Fabricates and assembles boxes by inserting through a sealing machine.
  • Alerts direct supervision of any complications that may arise.
  • Insert plastic liners in boxes and place them on conveyors or rollers.
  • Transports boxes through different stages of packaging by means of conveyor lines or rollers.
  • Rotates with other workers within the department.
  • Inspects product to ensure conformance to quality standards and reports any problems to supervision.
  • Must work as a team to help co-workers when needed.
  • Contributes to a continuous improvement in culture.
  • Attends company scheduled meetings when applicable (i.e., safety meetings, production meetings, department meetings.).
  • Inform supervision of any problems or complications that may arise
  • Participates in special projects and performs other duties as required
