About The Position

The Packaging Technician is responsible for properly identifying slit rolls and ensuring each roll is packed and labeled according to customer specifications. The role also involves proper use of packaging equipment, preventive maintenance, and housekeeping of equipment and the work area. The position works in a manufacturing environment with varying hot and cold temperatures and loud noise.

Responsibilities

Verify customer requirements by reviewing the setup.
Identify exception codes and use the proper packing supplies.
Print labels at the Packaging Station and verify roll data for each finished roll coming off the conveyors.
Perform basic troubleshooting of conveying systems.
Operate the packaging crane in a safe and controlled manner.
Enter data into the computer at the Packing Station and Stretch-Wrapping Station.
Operate the Stretch-Wrapper in automatic and manual modes.
Weigh finished pallets, apply pallet labels properly, and verify the data.
Maintain good housekeeping and a safe working environment.
Interact and communicate with fellow packers, the production supervisor, lead technician, and slitting technicians as required.
Operate a forklift and stack material using a forklift.
Use the clamp truck.
Assist with any function of the Slitting Department as requested by the lead operator and/or supervisor.
Perform preventive maintenance and housekeeping of packaging equipment and the work area.
