About The Position

This role is for a Packaging Technician in Colby, WI. The company is seeking qualified talent for this position and encourages applications from Veterans, Transitioning Military, National Guard and Reserve Members, Military Spouses, Wounded Warriors, and their Caregivers. This is an on-site position. The job involves following time and attendance guidelines, working cooperatively in a team, and accepting directions. Key responsibilities include handling product pouches, arranging cases on pallets, operating a scale, applying labels, preparing boxes, handling cheese products for repackaging, and reporting food defense concerns. Successful completion of a background check is required.

Requirements

  • Follow time and attendance guidelines in accordance with the employee handbook.
  • Work cooperatively in a team environment and accept and follow directions.
  • Able to stand for long periods while leaning forward.
  • Ability to regularly lift and / or carry up to 70 pounds individually or with assistance.
  • Continuously lift up to 35 pounds and moving or stacking on a pallet for at least two hours.
  • Ability to squat and bend frequently during shift.
  • Ability to grasp, reach, twist, push and / or pull using both hands and wrists continuously.
  • Capable of accurately operating and reading a scale.
  • Able to work around moving conveyors without motion sickness.
  • Tolerant of seasonally very warm temperatures.
  • Must have schedule flexibility.
  • Appreciation for cleanliness and sanitation, keeping work area clean and organized.
  • Knowledge of and ability to follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
  • Awareness of Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) and its importance.
  • Follow all Safe Quality Food (SQF) guidelines.
  • Maintain excellent personal hygiene and wear appropriate apparel for the job.
  • Required to report food safety problems or concerns immediately to a person with authority to initiate action as indicated on the organizational chart.
  • Be aware of and follow up to date OSHA regulations that apply to the tasks in your job.
  • Practice safe lifting techniques, bending and lifting with your legs not your back.
  • Pivot with your feet avoiding twisting at the waist.
  • Be aware of your surroundings, watching for forklift traffic and trip hazards such as pallets or cords.
  • Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the job you are doing.
  • Never operate equipment for which you have not been properly trained or certified for.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent

Responsibilities

  • Pick up, move, manipulate and count pouches of product at a rapid pace.
  • Accurately and neatly arrange cases on to pallets in compliance with instructions.
  • Operate a scale to accurately monitor and add or subtract pouches to reach correct case weights.
  • Apply correct labels uniformly on cases and pallets.
  • Review and verify accuracy of containers, labels and ink jet messaging.
  • Properly fold, tape and/or insert liners into boxes.
  • Handle cheese products in order to cut into smaller pieces and repackage as needed.
  • Report any suspicious activity related to food defense.
  • Other duties as assigned by Team Leader, Supervisor or Management.
