About The Position

The Packaging Technician I ("Tier 1") plays a critical role in the safe and efficient production of our beverages. This position supports packaging operations through product inspection, line support, sanitation activities, material handling, and station coverage while helping ensure products consistently meet safety, quality, and customer requirements. Packaging Technicians are expected to operate with integrity, maintain a strong attention to detail, and contribute to a positive team environment while developing their knowledge of packaging operations and equipment. Packaging Technician I serves a foundational role within Packaging Operations, where employees are expected to develop their knowledge, skills, and experience in preparation for more advanced equipment and operational responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Ability to learn packaging equipment operation, production processes, and standard operating procedures.
  • Ability to learn and effectively utilize company software, production systems, and documentation tools.
  • Willingness and ability to become trained on material handling equipment as required.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to safety, food safety, quality, and GMP compliance.

  • Must be willing and able to work overtime, extended shifts, weekends, and schedule adjustments as required to support business operations.
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Requires standing, walking, bending, twisting, reaching, pushing, pulling, climbing stairs, and performing repetitive motions throughout the shift.
  • Must maintain situational awareness and safely work around production equipment, mobile equipment, and other personnel.
  • Duties may include lifting, moving, and handling raw materials, finished goods, equipment, machine components, and production supplies.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally with assistance.

Nice To Haves

  • Forklift and pallet jack experience preferred but not required.
  • Manufacturing, packaging, production, warehouse, or machine operator experience preferred.
  • Experience working in a food, beverage, pharmaceutical, or other regulated manufacturing environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all company safety policies, GMP requirements, food safety standards, and operating procedures.
  • Maintain awareness of workplace hazards and report safety, quality, or food safety concerns promptly.
  • Inspect products and packaging for quality defects and specification deviations.
  • Support SQF, sanitation, allergen control, and food safety programs.
  • Participate in safety, quality, and compliance training activities.
  • Support packaging operations by working a variety of production and support positions throughout the shift.
  • Assist with line setup, startup, shutdown, cleaning, and changeover activities.
  • Monitor product quality, package appearance, and line flow within assigned areas.
  • Fill and clean kegs as needed.
  • Perform case flavor mixing and other production support activities as required.
  • Support line recovery efforts, housekeeping activities, and special projects as assigned.
  • Maintain a professional, respectful, and team-oriented approach when working with coworkers and support departments.
  • Follow direction and guidance from supervisors, line leads, and skilled equipment operators.
  • Support line leads, equipment owners, and support departments in achieving production goals.
  • Communicate concerns, issues, and improvement opportunities to supervisors and support teams.
  • Participate in cross-training and skill development opportunities.
  • Demonstrate willingness to learn new skills, processes, equipment, and operational responsibilities.
  • Support operational needs through flexibility in work assignments, station coverage, and team support activities.
  • Actively develop the knowledge and skills necessary to perform higher-level packaging and equipment responsibilities.
  • Follow GMP policy when in the production facility and encourage your team to do the same.
  • Understand our SQF policies relating to pest control, visitors, allergen management, and cleaning and sanitation.
  • Demonstrate awareness of Management's Commitment to SQF and work towards Food Safety and Quality and help the company meet this commitment.
  • If there is a problem that involves food quality and safety, report to the Quality Assurance Manager Manager so that the CAPA (corrective action, preventative action) log may be filled out, the situation be investigated, and resolved with the goal of continuous improvement of food quality and safety.
