About The Position

The Assistant Packaging Supervisor is responsible for supervising and directing daily packaging operations to ensure production, safety, quality, food safety, and operational objectives are achieved. This position provides leadership, coaching, and support to Packaging employees while coordinating resources, staffing, equipment, and priorities to meet production requirements. The Assistant Packaging Supervisor is accountable for shift execution, employee development, operational performance, and compliance with company policies, GMP requirements, food safety standards, and operational procedures. This role serves as a key leadership resource within Packaging Operations and acts on behalf of Packaging leadership when required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum one (1) year of supervisory, lead, coaching, or employee development experience required; manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Must be able to safely wear and utilize required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, hair restraints, beard restraints, protective footwear, and other PPE as required.
  • Must be able to safely perform work in accordance with company safety policies, GMP requirements, food safety standards, and operating procedures.
  • Requires standing, walking, bending, twisting, reaching, pushing, pulling, climbing stairs, and performing repetitive motions throughout the shift.
  • Must maintain situational awareness and safely work around production equipment, mobile equipment, and other personnel.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally with assistance.

Nice To Haves

  • Forklift certification or ability to become certified is preferred.
  • Associate degree, technical training, or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Two (2) years of manufacturing, packaging, brewing, sanitation, warehouse, or production experience preferred.
  • Experience coordinating personnel, production schedules, staffing assignments, and operational priorities preferred.
  • Experience working in a food, beverage, pharmaceutical, or other regulated manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Experience utilizing ERP systems, production reporting tools, and electronic documentation systems preferred.
  • Willingness to participate in training and development activities outside of normal work schedules when required to support operational success.

Responsibilities

  • Promote and enforce company safety policies, GMP requirements, food safety standards, SQF requirements, and operating procedures.
  • Ensure employees understand, follow, and are held accountable to safety, quality, food safety, sanitation, and regulatory requirements.
  • Verify required inspections, quality checks, testing activities, centerline verifications, documentation, and operational records are completed accurately and on time.
  • Maintain awareness of SQF programs, including pest control, visitor management, allergen control, cleaning and sanitation, and ensure compliance across assigned operations.
  • Ensure production areas remain clean, organized, inspection-ready, and free of sanitation, foreign material, or food safety hazards.
  • Identify, communicate, investigate, and escalate safety, quality, food safety, and regulatory concerns in a timely manner.
  • Support investigations, corrective actions, preventative actions (CAPA), audits, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Support Management's commitment to food safety and quality by ensuring products, processes, and personnel consistently meet customer, regulatory, and company standards.
  • Partner with Quality, Maintenance, and Operations leadership to drive compliance, resolve issues, and improve overall operational performance.
  • Coordinate staffing, production schedules, line assignments, and operational priorities to achieve production objectives.
  • Ensure production lines are properly staffed, supplied, and prepared for safe and efficient operation.
  • Monitor production performance, downtime, efficiency, schedule attainment, and operational effectiveness.
  • Support troubleshooting activities and coordinate resources to resolve production, equipment, and process issues.
  • Oversee startup, changeovers, shutdowns, and daily production execution.
  • Verify production orders, labeling, packaging specifications, and operational documentation are accurate and complete.
  • Monitor brite tank readiness, carbonation requirements, and production preparation activities.
  • Provide day-to-day supervision, coaching, training, and support to Packaging employees.
  • Support onboarding, employee development, cross-training, and skill advancement activities.
  • Reinforce performance expectations and provide feedback, coaching, and corrective action when appropriate.
  • Promote accountability, teamwork, communication, and a positive work environment.
  • Support Line Leads and Shift Leads in achieving operational objectives and employee development goals.
  • Serve as acting supervisor when required.
  • Maintain effective communication with Production, Brewing, Quality, Maintenance, Warehouse, and Leadership teams.
  • Communicate operational priorities, schedule changes, staffing concerns, and performance expectations.
  • Ensure accurate completion of ERP transactions, production documentation, and operational reporting.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, efficiency, employee development, and operational excellence.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support business operations.
