About The Position

FedUp Foods, a prominent functional beverage manufacturer known for its Buchi brand of kombucha, is seeking a Brewer I for its Marshall, NC facility. This role is crucial for the daily execution of brewing, cellaring, and transferring operations, as well as maintaining the cleanliness of brewing equipment and spaces. The position is part of a collaborative brewing team, with performance metrics and reviews provided to ensure expectations are met.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 1 year brewing or kitchen prep/batch mixing work preferred.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • High standard of cleanliness.
  • Proficiency with spreadsheet/document data entry.
  • Heightened awareness of safety precautions and hazards for self and others.
  • Ability to interact effectively at all levels within the organization.
  • Ability to multitask and be flexible.
  • Positive and team-oriented attitude.
  • Must be willing/able to work scheduled overtime, including some weekend shifts.
  • Flexibility in work hours is necessary to meet operational demands.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and be on your feet for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to bend, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull, and walk on uneven surfaces regularly.
  • Ability to work in hot, cold, and wet environments.
  • Ability to regularly lift, push, or pull up to 65 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Forklift and pallet jack experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in daily execution of all brewing/cellaring and transferring operations.
  • Clean all brewing and brewing-related equipment/spaces.
  • Contribute as a member of the brewing team.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working food space through annual chemical training, proper cleaning chemical usage, and proper chemical titrations.
  • Perform daily cleaning of equipment, floors, drains, and other systems.
  • Conduct regular deep cleaning of equipment, floors, drains, and other systems.
  • Advocate for a safe working environment by adhering to all PPE requirements and policies.
  • Promote a safe working environment by reporting incidents and near misses to the assigned supervisor.
  • Understand and execute all Clean in Place (CIP) procedures.
  • Clean all required tanks, pumps, and filtration systems and equipment according to SOPs.
  • Confirm cleanliness of brewing equipment through swabbing, titration, or other standard tests.
  • Fill tanks with water for future brews.
  • Assist in finishing/filtering starter for base brews.
  • Changeover filtration pads and socks according to SOPs.
  • Inject flavors from the flavor kitchen to the correct brite tank.
  • Ensure carbonation systems are set to packaging tanks when flavoring is completed.
  • Record and enter data into all appropriate spreadsheets, checklists, or documents.
  • Organize all tools and equipment.
  • Abide by GMP/SQF standards.
  • Assist in Koelschip fermentation monitoring, transfers, and cleaning processes.
  • Assist in the transfer of base product through appropriate filtration to the appropriate tank according to SOPs.
  • Participate in brewery projects and teams as needed.
  • Assist with other brewers/flavoring duties as needed.
  • Follow GMP policy when in the production facility and encourage team members to do the same.
  • Understand SQF policies relating to pest control, visitors, allergen management, and cleaning and sanitation.
  • Demonstrate awareness of Management's Commitment to SQF and work towards Food Safety and Quality.
  • Report any food quality and safety problems to the Quality Assurance Manager for investigation and resolution.
