The job purpose is to create equipment owners and experts that will be responsible for keeping the Blow molder machine running efficiently and dedicated to continuous improvement of their equipment. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the product flow, ability to understand and navigate the HMI at a high level, and can explain the bottle conveyor flow using the HMI or on the floor with the equipment. This role requires high technical and mechanical aptitudes, an open schedule with willingness to take calls and assist at all hours including night shift, and a drive to learn and improve operations and efficiencies. The candidate should be willing to stay in packaging long-term, possess excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work with other individuals and contribute to team success. An understanding or desire to learn Mechatronics is beneficial. The technician must be able to troubleshoot 90% + of technical issues, create new recipes, develop SOPs, training material, schedules training, PM guidelines, and PM schedule. The appropriate candidate should have experience running the equipment as an operator and show proficiency in the daily operations of all packaging equipment. The technician also requires a strong mechanical background and an excellent understanding of packaging.

Requirements

  • Must work in a safe, efficient manner and follow all safety procedures including the use of safety equipment.
  • Must have the ability to troubleshoot small problems and be able to discern when issues may require input from levels of authority within the corporation.
  • Must be willing to ask for assistance when the process is unclear.
  • Associates in electrical engineering preferred or A High School/vocational electrical diploma is required.
  • High School level verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic computational skills required.
  • Simple math and reasoning required.
  • Must be able to operate the equipment effectively after the appropriate break-in period.
  • Must possess or be able to use HMI (human machine interface) devices and understand process trending and SPC (statistical Process Control).
  • Notify supervision of any repairs or adjustments that are required that may affect product quality or food safety.
  • Understand, observe, and comply with the handling and usage of the color-coded container policy while in the Production Areas.
  • Perform all duties necessary to meet Company, Customer and/or Government requirements/standards as prioritized by the Company.
  • Ability to initiate action to prevent the occurrence of nonconformities relating to Food Safety and the Quality of the product, processes, quality system, or safety system.
  • Identify and record any problems relating to Food Safety and the Quality of the ingredients, processes, quality system, or safety system.
  • Control further processing or delivery of nonconforming product in terms of Food Safety and Quality issues until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.
  • In the event of absence, another employee with the same skill level will assume the duties and responsibilities as required.

Responsibilities

  • LOTO and risk assessments
  • Identify and communicate material defects
  • Follow quality issues to completion
  • Own and update all equipment documentation and procedures (CL, CILs, recipes)
  • Write equipment specific PM procedures, track completions, update procedure and frequencies as necessary
  • Track the life cycle of equipment specific parts and track inventory and order parts as needed
  • Navigate and adjust HMI settings as needed
  • Communicate cross-functionally with operators, leadership, engineering, CI, vendors and Krones
  • Primary troubleshooting resource for equipment- participates in RCAs
  • Disassemble, repair, and reassemble equipment components
  • Prioritize, schedule, and communicate any projects and maintenance of equipment to leadership and effected departments
  • Leads rebuilds and maintenance initiatives
  • Create and modify product recipes as needed.
  • Supports equipment specific trials
  • Gather, analyze, and communicate equipment specific data
