Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Ability to read and write Basic English, basic shop math skills, algebra, and basic computer skills.
  • A legal right to work in the United States
  • Must pass a drug screen and a background check in accordance with HWP standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Three to six years’ experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Target industries include: pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, electronic, chemical, cosmetics and food.
  • Preferred experience with packaging equipment.
  • Experience with FDA/cGMP compliance is preferred.
  • High multi-tasking abilities

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates efficient production capability of all packaging lines during the shift and ensures machines are running at the highest level possible while producing quality results.
  • Evaluates the need for maintenance assistance and prioritizes maintenance requests.
  • Manages crewing for packaging by assigning tasks, communicating expectations, and evaluating results.
  • Performs set-up and breakdown of machines on all packaging lines based on specific guidelines for each machine.
  • Completes machine set-up activities such as installation, changes, and adjustments, which may require the use of hand tools.
  • Works with machines including, but not limited to, bottle orientor, desiccant, CVC capsule counter, metal detector, cotton inserter, lidder, induction sealer, labeler, code dater, neck/full size bander, and carton former.
  • Makes minor, simple machine adjustments during product packaging, which may require the use of hand tools.
  • Facilitates moving in and removing all needed raw and packaging materials to work centers, including capsules, bottles, desiccants, cotton, lids, labels, neck bands, and cardboard boxes.
  • Visually and manually inspects finished bottles and boxes according to inspection guidelines to ensure accuracy and quality standards.
  • Checks and corrects any conditions not conducive to a safe, clean workplace and reports safety problems immediately.
  • Works with Quality Control to address packaging and labeling-related challenges.
  • Uses a pallet jack and is or becomes forklift certified.
  • Completes and checks documentation.
  • Communicates effectively and provides feedback as needed to employees and management.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly work area, including cleaning machines, machine breakdown, tools, and the area around workstations.
  • Maintains regular attendance at the physical job location for the designated shift assigned.
  • Trains new operators and/or participates in task forces to improve and establish company procedures and operations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Must be able to successfully pass all job-related tests and certifications required for working in a cGMP, quality environment including but not limited to: inspections and GMP requirements to perform essential functions of the job.
  • Must re-qualify every year on all job-related tests and certifications as job or qualifications require.
