Packaging Associate (Full Time)
About The Position
The Packaging Associate is an entry-level role supporting the packaging team in meeting daily packaging needs and goals. The work covers packaging, canning, kegging, and warehousing as needed. The position is primarily based at Hardywood’s West Creek facility, with potential shifts and duties at the Richmond facility. There is an opportunity to progress to Packaging Specialist I, II, and III, with increasing involvement in canning line operations, kegging equipment and processes, and warehousing. The position is supervised by the Assistant Packaging Manager and reports to the Packaging Manager.
Requirements
- High school graduate.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- High standard of sanitation and cleanliness.
- Proficient writing and math skills.
- Computer skills and software proficiency.
- Ability to work efficiently and urgently to achieve daily goals.
- Ability to function effectively in a team-based environment.
- Ability to adapt on short notice.
- Ability to work flexibly based on packaging needs and work overtime as needed.
- Ability to stand and/or traverse the brewery for 8–10 hours per day.
- Ability to routinely bend, move, transport, or lift 60 pounds and safely move 165 pounds.
- Ability to occasionally climb ladders and work in hot and cold temperatures.
- Ability to operate a forklift, hand truck, pallet jack, and other warehouse equipment.
- Ability to work with potentially dangerous equipment and machinery, tolerate high noise levels, and handle hazardous materials.
Responsibilities
- Follow company safety procedures and identify opportunities to improve workplace safety.
- Package cans and cartons coming off the can line.
- Ensure the quality of cans, kegs, packaging materials, and labels.
- Clean and sanitize kegs to meet production needs.
- Tape boxes after packaging is complete.
- Wrap and place completed pallets into bonded inventory according to the Logistics Coordinator’s needs and preferences.
- Assist with inventory management as needed.
- Help in the brewery as needed.
- Clean packaging and production areas.
- Break down and discard boxes as needed.
- Participate in safety and sanitation programs.
- Perform other duties, functions, and special projects as assigned.
