About The Position

As a Packager at Steel Technologies, you will set up and operate banding equipment to package materials properly and prepare them for shipment to customers. The role provides exposure to finished goods and opportunities to learn about customers and their end products. You will package materials to customer specifications, handle and transport materials safely, maintain production standards, and keep assigned areas clean.

Requirements

Ability to use a tape measure, micrometers, and calipers.
Ability to comply with safety rules and requirements.
Must pass necessary forklift certification and/or crane training.
Ability to sit and stand for extended periods.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.

Responsibilities

Prepare skids to customer specifications.
Operate turnstile, down layer, banding line equipment, and cranes as needed to package material.
Package material according to customer specifications, customer-supplied information, and standard packaging instructions.
Ensure proper identification and segregation of materials.
Operate forklifts and/or overhead cranes to transport materials to and from storage areas and workstations within assigned areas.
Handle materials safely and without damage.
Clean the packaging area or other assigned areas.
Maintain production standards.
Load, transport, unload, and stack materials according to established procedures.
