About The Position

The Pack Out position learns, performs, and rotates among the packer, scaler, styler, and grader roles as needed to maintain the designated production rate for each product. The work is performed on a moving conveyor belt and includes handling, styling, packing, and weighing product, as well as inspecting and grading it to remove items that do not meet standards. The position works as part of a team, contributing to team development, communication, coordination, and implementation of team concepts, programs, and policies. Team members attend relevant meetings, support cohesion around organizational matters, identify and raise issues, and work cooperatively to resolve them. The role also involves familiarity with Simmons operating systems, such as quality, security, office environment, company policies, and LEAN, and communicating concerns and ideas for improvement. Other duties may be performed as needed to support business objectives. The job requires working for an entire shift in cold, wet, noisy, and dusty conditions. Work may involve rotating through cold and hot areas of the plant. Standard waterproof gloves and sleeves, hearing protection, and slip-resistant footwear are identified as personal protective equipment. Technical experience, industry experience, and education are not required; poultry or food-processing experience is preferred.

Requirements

Ability to move, push, or pull up to 55 pounds from a table to scales at waist level.
Ability to bend, stoop, walk, and stand, and to work for an entire shift in a cold, wet, noisy, and dusty environment.
Ability to perform repetitive-motion work and potentially rotate through cold and hot areas of the plant.
Ability to make good decisions and communicate effectively with others and the leadership team.
Use of standard waterproof gloves and sleeves, hearing protection, and slip-resistant footwear.

Preference for experience in a poultry or food-processing organization.

Responsibilities

Rotate among packer, scaler, styler, and grader positions as needed to maintain product line speeds at designated rates.
Work on a moving conveyor belt using both hands.
Spread or style product by hand on the belt.
Perform different types of product packing and weighing.
Pull bones from product; inspect and grade product; remove product that does not meet standards.
Participate in team development, communication, and implementation of team concepts, programs, and policies.
Coordinate work with team members to support best practices and attend appropriate team meetings.
Identify team cohesion issues, bring them to the team leader’s attention, and work with the team to resolve them.
Learn and support Simmons operating systems, including quality, security, office environment, company policies, and LEAN; communicate concerns and improvement ideas.
Perform other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
