The Pack Operator role is crucial in ensuring that customer demands are met by safely and efficiently packing, filling, and labeling cylinders, while also maintaining quality standards.

Requirements

  • Three months of related experience.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships.
  • Ability to work effectively in independent situations and exercise good judgment to reach sound conclusions.
  • Ability to use Kanban workflow for optimal build performance.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, schedules, rules, procedures, etc.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and perform from various documents, including method sheets, assembly drawings, production reports, safety rules, blueprints, printed shop schedules, Kanban cards/boards, shipping orders, runsheets, partsheets, picklists, operating maintenance instruction and procedure manuals, etc.
  • Ability to properly identify components and gain extensive parts knowledge.
  • Ability to identify and obtain appropriate parts for workstation operation.
  • Ability to use CRT and data entry technologies (bar code, key entry).
  • Ability to use computer applications including AS400 and MFGPRO.
  • General knowledge of machinery, specifically related to areas of responsibility.
  • Ability to judge distances, spatial relationships, and perform visual and/or mechanical inspections; ability to distinguish colors and finishes.
  • Basic math and computer skills.
  • Ability to perform jobs at the same or lower labor grade than current job.
  • Ability to frequently lift up to 5 pounds, occasionally lift up to 25 pounds, and rarely lift up to 60 pounds. Any lifts over 35 pounds should be done with assistance.
  • Ability to demonstrate manual dexterity; ability to repetitively use fingers and hands to feel, handle, or squeeze; reach with hands and arms; twist/turn body; perform repetitive motions.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and/or sit, frequently and for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl.
  • Ability to use two hand palm buttons.
  • Ability to use pneumatic tools.
  • Ability to use testing equipment.
  • Exposure to various chemicals including greases, oils, and adhesives in safe exposure amounts and approved for use in our facility by EHS.
  • Exposure to temperature changes.
  • Exposure to moderate noise levels with intermittent loud noises.
  • Exposure to vibration.
  • Exposure to dirt and/or dust.
  • Exposure to sharp objects and parts.
  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts, protected by approved guarding and controls.

Responsibilities

  • Working safely and completing 5S assignments.
  • Using standard work processes for packing, filling, and labeling cylinders to meet daily customer demands.
  • Inspecting parts for quality and correctness to ensure proper parts are being packed.
  • Communicating any encountered problems to Leads or Team Leaders that may hinder responsibilities.
  • Coordinating orders and ensuring they are packaged and labeled properly.
  • Pulling inventory to be sent out to Metakote (SRI).
  • Establishing invoices and receiving purchase order numbers with the assistance of the purchasing department.
  • Working with vendors to coordinate pick-up and delivery of SRI parts.
  • Coordinating the hanging of parts through powder coat and the unhang section.
  • Viewing schedules, determining items to pack, identifying order information, operating equipment, and making necessary inventory transactions.
  • Receiving and inspecting plating quality.
  • Identifying all parts and components per order to be plated.
  • Completing packing lists and maintaining all required records utilizing computer technologies or manually as necessary.
  • Working with inventory control to correct negatives and overages.
  • Assembling plated arms and components and staging them by invoice and schedule date for pack lines.
  • Stacking pallets and arranging materials as needed.
  • Performing other duties as assigned and extending into other areas as needed.
  • Following safety regulations; keeping work areas and equipment clean and orderly using 5S standards.
  • Performing tasks in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Communicating with internal customers.
