About The Position

WE ARE CASA & CASA IN ACTION SYNOPSIS: We Are CASA’s mission is to create a more just society by building power and improving the quality of life in working-class Black, Latino/a/e, Afro-descendent, Indigenous, and Immigrant Communities. Our vision is rooted in the collective power of our community, our inclusive, permanent, member-led movement radically transforms communities and systems to ensure the needs, dreams, and aspirations of members are fully met as we strive for justice and full liberation at home and in solidarity with others across the world. We Are CASA has a sister organization, CASA in Action, a separate, but related, nonprofit organization that is exempt from federal income tax under section 501(c)(4) of the Internal Revenue Code. Although We Are CASA and CASA in Action share a common goal of supporting immigrants and low-income people in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Georgia, they are separate organizations with their own board of directors. A set of employees at the two organizations, including the person filling this position, shares their time between the two organizations. This has no effect on salary or benefits. DEPARTMENT SYNOPSIS: We Are CASA’s Services Division anticipates and responds to the needs of working-class Black, Latino/a/e, Afro-descendent, Indigenous, and Immigrant communities, strengthening and building power among these communities for long-term impact. In Pennsylvania, We Are CASA operates two welcome centers: one in York, and one in Lancaster, responding to the needs of community members in the region. At these centers, community members can join We Are CASA, become involved in organizing opportunities, and receive high-quality services, such as job placement, vocational training, and English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) classes. POSITION SUMMARY: The Workforce Development Coordinator will coordinate and support workforce development programs, such as ESOL, vocational training, and computer literacy classes operating out of our Pennsylvania welcome centers. The position will help program participants prepare for and secure employment through individualized activities, such as resumé building, mock job interviews, and job placement, while coordinating group-based support, such as training logistics, course monitoring, and outreach events. The Coordinator will build and maintain strong partnerships with businesses, colleges, community-based organizations, building trades, and other fields, to identify job placement and career advancement opportunities for community members. This position will serve a critical role helping individuals develop necessary skills to achieve their professional goals. The Coordinator will work closely across We Are CASA teams to ensure workforce development programming responds to member needs and supports We Are CASA's mission and strategy.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of relevant education, training, and experience: advanced degree is a plus.
Valid US Driver’s License and reliable vehicle to travel between We Are CASA sites and community locations.
Fluency in English, Spanish, Haitian Creole

Responsibilities

Assist with the development and implementation of an integrated Workforce Development Program at We Are CASA in Pennsylvania centered on three core components: ESOL, vocational training (including both soft and hard skills), and job placement, ensuring that these services respond to the needs of We Are CASA members and the local labor market
Ensure high-quality delivery and outcomes across training programs and courses by recruiting, evaluating, and coordinating with instructors; conducting class observations; providing instructor feedback; monitoring participant progress; supporting attendance and course completion; and organizing graduation or completion activities, among other activities
Build and maintain employer and workforce partnerships (homeowners, contractors, subcontractors, businesses, unions, community colleges, training institutions, government agencies, and other community partners) to expand quality training and job opportunities for We Are CASA members
Conduct labor market analyses and community needs assessments to identify employment opportunities and training priorities by geographic areas, and use findings to continuously improve program services
Seek job placement opportunities for We Are CASA members, identifying individualized opportunities; cultivating employer relationships; supporting members through job searches and placement, as well as engaging in education and advocacy for quality working conditions, fair wages, and accommodations
Develop, coordinate, and maintain vocational training opportunities that prepare members for employment and career advancement, including both hard/technical skills and soft skills
Coordinate and support ESOL programming to strengthen members’ English language skills for the workplace and increase their ability to access training, secure employment, communicate effectively with employers and coworkers, and advance in their careers
Develop and implement outreach, recruitment, and marketing strategies in partnership with We Are CASA’s Communications team to recruit members and employers, promote ESOL, vocational training, and job placement services, and coordinate employment campaigns, community events, and multilingual outreach
Maintain accurate program, participant, membership, and financial records in approved organizational databases, including monitoring and reporting enrollment, attendance, training completion, job placement, and other outcomes; collecting and reconciling tuition and membership payments; and ensuring compliance with organizational data, quality, and audit standards
Collaborate across We Are CASA departments and regions to ensure that Workforce Development service programming is responsive to and aligned with member priorities and supporting membership growth and community power
Participate actively in the annual planning process, including helping develop programmatic goals, establishing individualized work plan goals and adhering to all deadlines and work requirements set throughout the year
Participate in organizational priorities, including coordinating with community organizers for organizing and mobilizing purposes
Develop, establish and coordinate training opportunities according to the market’s demand.
