About The Position

Pinnacle Health Medical Services - Specialty is hiring a Full-Time PA or CRNP Specialist to help support the Neurosurgery Department. This position offers variety, including inpatient, outpatient, and OR duties. The service line is growing and provides the individual an opportunity to have input into helping to build and mold the service line, contributing to its success. A supportive team and plenty of education are provided in this role. This is a high-acuity, procedure-forward role designed to deliver advanced inpatient surgical care and to support the Neurosurgery team with expert bedside management. This CRNP, Specialist will play a critical role in contributing to continuity of care, quality outcomes, and operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program (AGACNP preferred)
  • Current and unrestricted CRNP licensure in Pennsylvania
  • National board certification (ANCC/AANP)
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Minimum of 2 years post-graduate experience in neurosurgical inpatient care or completion of an accredited APP neurosurgical fellowship
  • Documented competency in bedside surgical procedures or commitment to achieve competency within onboarding

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years of experience in neurosurgery
  • Prior experience managing high-acuity or critically ill neurosurgery patients
  • Demonstrated autonomy in inpatient or hospitalist roles
  • Advanced procedural training or certification beyond minimum requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive neurosurgical inpatient care in collaboration with attending surgeons and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Perform advanced bedside procedures including (but not limited to): Central and arterial line placement, Ventriculostomy Drain Management and Removal, Subdural Drain Management and Removal, JP Drain Management and Removal.
  • Manage inpatient surgical consults, emergency department consults, and urgent evaluations.
  • Independently manage post-operative and critically ill neurosurgery patients, with appropriate escalation.
  • Participate in hospital call coverage, including nights and weekends, addressing emergent patient needs.
  • First assist in the operating room as needed.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests, formulate treatment plans, and perform timely documentation in the EMR.
  • Educate patients and families on surgical conditions, procedures, and care plans.
  • Collaborate with physicians, residents, nursing, and ancillary teams to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
