About The Position

Atrium Health is seeking an inpatient Hepatology Advanced Practice Provider (APP) for our AH Charlotte location at Carolinas Medical Center. Due to the patient population and acuity, we are looking for Physician Assistants or Acute Care Nurse Practitioners. This is an inpatient role with a 7 days on/7 days off schedule, working hours from 7a-6p. The APP will be part of a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team providing excellent care to patients with a variety of liver diseases. The team includes Hepatologists, GI/liver fellows, APPs, in-house transplant coordinators, a transplant pharmacist, a social worker, and a dietician, all working collaboratively to provide team-focused patient care.

Requirements

  • Experienced APP with 2 years of either Gastroenterology experience, Hepatology/transplant, hospitalist medicine, internal medicine experience preferred.
  • New grads considered if completing an APP fellowship, such as hospitalist medicine, ICU medicine or critical care.
  • Physician Assistant – Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant program required, Master’s Degree preferred. Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants preferred.
  • Acute Care Nurse Practitioner – Master’s Degree or Doctorate of Nursing Practice required. License to practice as a Registered Nurse required. Certification in the area of practice from a nationally recognized certifying body required. Acute Care board certification needed based upon population and acuity served.
  • APP who can demonstrate appropriate critical thinking and interpersonal skills.
  • APP who can prioritize and make proactive decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Manage patients with cirrhosis and the associated complications, as well as management of patients undergoing liver transplant evaluation and post-transplant patients admitted to the hospital.
  • Consultations, daily rounds, progress notes, H&Ps, discharges, ordering and interpreting diagnostic testing, provide patient/family education and counseling for patients with chronic liver disease/cirrhosis.
