About The Position

This is a Locum Tenens position for a Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) in the Emergency Medicine department at a hospital in Holdrege, NE. The role involves clinical coverage in the Emergency Department, hospital, outpatient, and clinic settings as assigned. The position requires the ability to manage emergency medicine and acute care cases, including admissions and rounding. An on-call Emergency Department physician is available for consultation. The contract duration is open to 3-6 months, with a start date of 10/26/2026. The schedule is night shifts, 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM, with approximately 60 hours every two weeks, including every 3rd weekend and variable holidays.

Requirements

• Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies from an accredited university
• NCCPA certification required
• Current DEA certification required
• BLS required
• ACLS required
• PALS required for Emergency Department coverage
• NRP required for Emergency Department coverage
• ATLS required for Emergency Department coverage
• Minimum 3 years of experience
• Meditech experience

Responsibilities

• Assess and manage patients presenting to the Emergency Department
• Obtain detailed patient histories and perform comprehensive examinations
• Diagnose conditions and initiate appropriate treatment or referrals
• Order and interpret diagnostic testing
• Arrange admissions and discharges and perform hospital rounds as needed
• Communicate with and consult the on-call Emergency Department physician
• Respond to Rapid Response and Code Team activations as available
• Provide patient education and follow-up guidance
• Maintain accurate and complete medical records
• Practice within established scope, standards, and clinical privileges
• Emergency department patient assessment and management
• Complete patient histories and physical examinations
• Medical diagnosis and treatment
• Hospital admissions and discharges
• Hospital rounds and patient progress documentation
• Routine therapeutic and surgical procedures, as applicable
• Rapid Response and Code Team participation
• Cardiac stress testing supervision
