The Parks and Recreation Facility Maintenance Technician II plays a crucial role within the City of Cortez's Parks and Recreation team, ensuring that facilities, particularly the Recreation Center, are safe, clean, and consistently well-maintained. This journey-level position requires expertise in diverse building trades and proficiency in managing pool chemical and mechanical systems. Responsibilities include performing general maintenance and repairs for various facility systems, such as plumbing, electrical, HVAC, roofing, security, and audio-visual setups. In this role, you may also take on a senior or leadership position, guiding the facility maintenance team while ensuring the highest standards of operational excellence. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years of journeyman-level experience in one or more building trades.
  • Adept at using tools and software relevant to maintenance tasks.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work effectively.
  • Physical strength necessary to endure long periods of manual labor, including tasks performed at heights using lifts, ladders, or scaffolding.
  • Strong supervisory skills for delegating responsibilities to part-time staff.
  • Ability to foster positive working relationships with colleagues and the public.
  • Proficiency in following detailed instructions.
  • General knowledge of computers.
  • Experience operating pool chemical and mechanical systems and the ability to attain a Certified Pool Operator status is a significant advantage.
  • Valid Colorado driver’s license.
