About The Position

The P & L Loader processes, transfers, packs, loads, ships, and receives inbound and outbound materials while maintaining sanitation throughout the facility. The role supports safety, food safety, and pest prevention, and upholds Mennel Milling Company’s Mission and Motto and Food Safety and Quality Statement. The employee works assigned shifts and overtime as required. This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

The work includes following food and personal safety requirements and sanitation guidelines, keeping the facility audit-ready, performing sanitation and basic preventative maintenance, and transferring, packing, loading, and unloading flour and feed products. The position uses equipment including forklifts and involves loading bulk and bag flour trucks and rail cars, as well as completing required documentation.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to obtain and maintain forklift certification.
• Ability to pass a respirator fit test and perform the essential duties while wearing a respirator.
• Ability to maintain open communication with internal and external customers.
• Knowledge of and ability to operate Microsoft Office, Internet and Intranet, and other computer software needed to perform the job.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, correspondence, memos, procedures, and plans; write and complete checklists and basic documentation; and present information effectively in one-on-one and small-group settings.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Sound judgment and ability to recognize and plan for changing work duties and events.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including regularly standing, walking, using hands for maintenance tasks, reaching, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, twisting, crouching, crawling, and talking or hearing; occasional lifting or moving of up to 50 pounds or more.
• Ability and willingness to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and in all weather conditions, at heights, and around airborne particles and common wheat allergens; use hearing protection when required.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in flour milling, food processing, or another related manufacturing field.
• Previous truck-driving experience and a commercial driver's license (CDL).

Responsibilities

• Follow food and personal safety requirements, including GMPs, OSHA, HACCP, Global Food Safety Initiative, FDA Food Safety Modernization Act, and company sanitation guidelines; attend required training.
• Maintain the department and facility in an everyday audit-ready condition.
• Ensure food safety rules, plant safety rules, and GMPs are followed.
• Perform general sanitation tasks, including blowing down, vacuuming, mopping, and washing.
• Perform preventative maintenance and repairs, including changing over the packer and inspecting yard tractors and forklifts.
• Transfer, pack, load, and unload flour and feed products using necessary equipment, including forklifts.
• Load bulk and bag flour trucks and rail cars.
• Complete required documentation.
• Operate forklifts daily.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
