About The Position

A Wintzell's Oyster House Oyster Shucker is responsible for safely and efficiently opening (shucking) oysters for customers while maintaining high standards of food quality, cleanliness, and customer service. This role requires knife skills, attention to detail, and knowledge of seafood handling procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Shuck oysters accurately and efficiently using proper tools and techniques.
  • Inspect oysters for freshness, quality, and safety before serving.
  • Maintain sanitary workstations and follow food safety regulations.
  • Store and handle seafood according to company and health department standards.
  • Prepare oyster platters and seafood presentations as directed.
  • Monitor inventory levels and report shortages or quality concerns.
  • Dispose of shells and waste materials safely and efficiently.
  • Assist customers by answering questions about oyster varieties and sourcing.
  • Support kitchen or raw bar operations during busy periods.
  • Follow all workplace safety procedures, especially when handling shucking knives.
