About The Position

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Midtown, NYC is seeking a compassionate and experienced Overnight ER Veterinary Assistant to join our team! This role involves assisting with nursing care, performing diagnostics, client communication, and maintaining a clean and organized environment. Requirements

• Compassionate and experienced Overnight ER Veterinary Assistant.
• Unrestricted, current authorization to work in the U.S. and not require future sponsorship for an employment-based green card.

Responsibilities

• Triage emergency cases as they come in.
• Assist DVM with crafting and going over estimates as needed.
• Perform diagnostics (radiographs, labwork, etc).
• Set patients up in ICU or Inpatient ward.
• Discharge patients.
• Handle client communication.
• Assist with nursing care to patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
• Stock, clean and maintain cleanliness in our ER, ICU and other designated areas for the role.
• Understand classification of commonly used medications, associated side effects and appropriately monitors therapeutic response.
• Administer medications via appropriate routes and duration under the guidance of an LVT.
• Perform radiography and lab work.
• Perform physical exam; accurately counts heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
• Engage with our clients by performing triages, going over estimates and providing discharge instruction.
• Remain current on R.E.C.O.V.E.R CPR guidelines and demonstrates proficiency in designated role as assigned by attending clinician and/or supervisor.
