About The Position

The Overnight Stocker is an essential member of Hy-Vee’s overnight crew, helping keep store shelves full, organized, and ready for customers. The role includes unloading trucks, stocking and rotating products, tagging shelves, organizing backroom inventory, and supporting an efficient overnight operation. The stocker also provides friendly customer service and may assist in other store areas or special projects. Training and support are provided; prior experience is not required.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Basic math skills, including fractions, decimals, and percentages.
Clear, friendly communication with customers and teammates.
Ability to stay organized and keep pace during a busy overnight shift.
Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, or pull objects weighing 100 pounds or more, with or without mechanical assistance.
Ability to continuously stand and walk on hard surfaces for extended periods.
Ability to unload, lift, stock, and rotate incoming truck freight and merchandise.
Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen.

Nice To Haves

Up to six months of similar or related work experience.
Where applicable, ability to operate pallet jacks, forklifts, or similar material-handling equipment; required operator certification must be completed before independent use.
Where applicable, ability to safely use sharp knives and blades to cut, trim, or grind product.
Where applicable and subject to age and legal requirements, ability to operate a cardboard baler or compactor.
Where applicable, ability to perform repetitive motions associated with dough mixing, scaling, and proofing.

Responsibilities

Greet customers warmly and help them find what they need.
Assist customers with finding products, reaching items, and carrying heavy purchases; pass feedback or requests to the team.
Unload trucks, open containers, stock shelves, run overstock on risers, and rotate products to ensure freshness.
Monitor for mis-picked items, product outs, and incorrect deliveries, and report issues.
Organize stock efficiently and clean and restock damaged items.
Tag shelves with overstock in the back room and understock drawers.
Report new or different items to the scanning coordinator for system input.
Work with teammates to support a smooth, efficient overnight operation.
Follow Hy-Vee’s dress code, hygiene standards, and company policies.
Assist in other store areas and take on special projects as needed.
