About The Position

The Overnight Stocker is an essential member of Hy-Vee’s overnight crew, keeping shelves stocked, organized, and ready for customers. The role includes unloading trucks, rotating products, tagging shelves, and maintaining an orderly backroom. It is a physically demanding, hands-on position performed primarily during overnight hours. Training and support are provided, and prior experience is not required.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years old.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Basic math skills, including fractions, decimals, and percentages.
Ability to communicate clearly and helpfully with customers and teammates.
Ability to stay organized and keep up with the pace of a busy overnight shift.
Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, or pull objects weighing 100 pounds or more, with or without mechanical assistance.
Ability to stand and walk continuously on hard surfaces for extended periods.
Ability to work in cooler or freezer environments for extended periods.
Ability to unload, lift, stock, and rotate incoming truck freight and merchandise.
Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen is required.

Up to six months of similar or related work experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Greet customers warmly and provide outstanding customer service.
Help customers find products, reach items, and carry heavy purchases; relay feedback or requests to the team.
Unload trucks, open containers, stock shelves, run overstock on risers, and rotate products to ensure freshness.
Monitor for mis-picked items, product outs, and incorrect deliveries, and report issues.
Organize stock efficiently and clean and restock damaged items.
Tag shelves with overstock in the back room and understock drawers.
Report new or different items to the scanning coordinator for system input.
Work with teammates to support a smooth and efficient overnight operation.
Follow the dress code, hygiene standards, and company policies.
Assist in other store areas and take on special projects as needed.
