About The Position

The Overnight Stocker is an essential member of Hy-Vee’s overnight crew, keeping store shelves stocked, organized, and ready for customers. The role includes unloading trucks, rotating products, tagging shelves, organizing the backroom, and supporting a positive shopping experience. No prior experience is required; training and support are provided. A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Up to six months of similar or related work experience is preferred. Employment is contingent on successfully completing a pre-employment drug screen.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years old.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Basic math skills, including fractions, decimals, and percentages.
Ability to communicate clearly and helpfully with customers and teammates.
Ability to stay organized and keep up with the pace of a busy overnight shift.
Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, or pull objects weighing 100 pounds or more, with or without mechanical assistance.
Ability to stand and walk continuously on hard surfaces for extended periods.
Ability to work in cooler or freezer environments for extended periods.
Ability to unload, lift, stock, and rotate incoming truck freight and merchandise.
Ability to work around heavy store equipment and follow safety practices.
Employment contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen.

Nice To Haves

Up to six months of similar or related work experience is preferred.
Where applicable to the role, ability to operate pallet jacks, forklifts, or similar material-handling equipment; required operator certification must be completed before independent use.
Where applicable to the role, ability to safely use sharp knives and blades to cut, trim, or grind product.
Where applicable to the role and subject to applicable age and legal requirements, ability to operate a cardboard baler or compactor.
Where applicable to the role, ability to perform repetitive motions associated with dough mixing, scaling, and proofing.

Responsibilities

Provide outstanding customer service by warmly greeting customers and helping them find products.
Assist customers with reaching items and carrying heavy purchases, and pass feedback or requests to the team.
Unload trucks, open containers, stock shelves, run overstock on risers, and rotate products to ensure freshness.
Monitor for mis-picked items, product outs, and incorrect deliveries, and report issues.
Organize stock efficiently and clean and restock damaged items.
Tag shelves with overstock in the backroom and understock drawers.
Report new or different items to the scanning coordinator for system input.
Work with teammates to support a smooth, efficient overnight operation.
Follow Hy-Vee’s dress code, hygiene standards, and company policies.
Assist in other store areas and take on special projects as needed.
