About The Position

Securitas is hiring for multiple Part-Time AND Full-Time Overnight Security Officers to keep client sites safe in Greater Burlington, Vermont. The starting pay is $20.00+/hr, varying by site. Available schedules include Part-Time in Burlington ($22.11/hr) on Thursdays from 9:00 pm - 5:00 am, and Full-Time in Essex ($20.70/hr) on Tuesdays-Saturdays from 12:00 am - 8:00 am or Mondays-Fridays from 12:00 am - 8:00 am. Candidates interested in Full-Time hours can work shifts at multiple sites to reach 40 hours per week. No security experience is required, and growth opportunities are available. Strong customer service skills are essential. The ideal candidate will be professional, motivated, and eager to learn. A Security Officer is responsible for safeguarding people, property, and assets by monitoring for suspicious activity, enforcing rules, providing a visible security presence, and responding to incidents. This role is crucial in deterring criminal activity, ensuring safety, and maintaining order.

Requirements

At least 18 years of age.
Reliable means of communication.
Valid Driver's License, a clean driving record, AND reliable transportation to get to and from the work site(s).
Legal right to work in the United States.
Ability to effectively speak, read and write English.
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
MUST be able to obtain a Vermont Guard Card (Security Guard license) after being hired!

Responsibilities

Monitor security cameras and patrol assigned premises to detect suspicious activity, unauthorized access, or safety hazards.
Enforce access control policies, such as checking identification, issuing visitor passes, and restricting access to authorized personnel.
Respond promptly to alarms, emergencies, or security incidents, including medical emergencies, fire hazards, or criminal activity, and report or escalate as needed.
Document and report incidents, suspicious activity, breaches of security, or safety concerns in clear, accurate, and detailed reports.
Conduct foot or vehicle patrols to ensure all areas, including entrances, parking lots, and perimeters, are secure, checking for unlocked or tampered doors, windows, or gates.
Greet and assist visitors or employees, providing directions and answering inquiries professionally and approachably.
Inspect the premises for safety hazards, fire risks, or any conditions that could compromise safety.
Handle minor disputes or disturbances using conflict resolution skills to maintain a calm and safe environment.
Work closely with other security staff, law enforcement, or emergency responders to coordinate security efforts and respond to incidents.
