About The Position

The Overnight Safety & Security Associate is responsible for welcoming, greeting, and assisting residents and visitors, providing routine information or directing them to the appropriate staff/program. This role involves conducting internal and external rounds to ensure safety, monitoring surveillance cameras and public areas for improper conduct or unauthorized persons, and adhering to agency confidentiality and HIPAA expectations. The associate will respond to emergencies, follow operating guidelines to maintain structure and order, and accurately complete documentation, including daily logs and entering participant information. They will also maintain knowledge of ongoing events by reading incident logs, enforce property rules, respond to needs and crises, mediate interpersonal problems between residents, summon emergency personnel, and communicate with staff to resolve participant issues. Additionally, the role includes completing necessary records and reports, providing information and referrals, keeping the supervisor informed, and supporting the agency's vision, mission, values, and Code of Ethics. The associate will reflect the commitment to treating all persons with dignity and respect, use creativity and innovation, maintain confidentiality, and ensure regular and predictable attendance. This position also requires completing security guard training and licensing, as well as all mandatory agency trainings.

Requirements

  • Experience working with people in crisis
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful and/or emergencies
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
  • Basic knowledge of word processing and typing ability to enter participant information
  • Knowledge of the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics and the appropriate techniques and practices for the participant population.
  • Ability to interact effectively as a team member and independently with Agency staff and with a diverse participant base.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Some college or technical school preferred; and three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A current City & County of Denver Security Guard License or the ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Politely welcomes, greets, and assists all residents and visitors, providing routine information or directing them to the appropriate staff/program.
  • Conducts internal and external rounds throughout the facility to monitor and ensure safety.
  • Monitors surveillance cameras and public areas to ensure no improper conduct or unauthorized persons are inside the facility and/or on agency property.
  • Adheres to Agency confidentiality and HIPAA expectations.
  • Responds and assists as appropriate to any emergencies in the building or on the grounds.
  • Follows procedures and guidelines outlined in operating guidelines manual(s) to help maintain structure and order in the living environment.
  • Accurately and promptly completes all required documentation/data, including entering relevant participant information in daily logs before ending shift assignment.
  • Maintains current knowledge of ongoing events and changes by reading incident logs.
  • Enforces property rules uniformly and consistently.
  • Responds appropriately to needs and crises, such as mediating basic interpersonal problems between residents and summoning emergency personnel.
  • Communicates with other staff to resolve problems with individual participants.
  • Completes necessary records and reports, including on the computer or manually, as directed.
  • Provides appropriate information and referrals.
  • Keeps the supervisor informed on property developments.
